How India defeated China?

Image
(This is an extract from a history book printed in the year 3030. This is an imaginary story and is not about anyone living or dead. If you think it is not imaginary, then the mistake is yours and not mine.) I am sure you are as intrigued as I am, on how India defeated China. As a time traveller, I went to the next millennium and grabbed a history book of 7th standard level. And the result is right below! In those years, around the first century of the third millennium of recorded history, India was a country or a nation as they called it along with 164 others on this planet. India, a democratically administered country and its neighbours China which is a communist agnostic country and Pakistan a pseudo democracy possessed by a religion, were constantly at war. India fought with China. More with Pakistan. Many times India defeated Pakistan. Though with China, India lost once and could not build a strong army that could defeat the Chinese as easily as they could defeat the Pakis. These

Electricity of future

Image
Every piece of world evolves over time. And electricity and its generation is of no exception. We have been seeing a growth of Renewables in the last two decades. In the first five decades of the twentieth century, renewables were called hydro power. Though the concept of renewables, tapping wind energy, solar and even wave or tide was very much on the cards, few people gave it much thought. They were all on the researchers tables! Today, the world is seeing the growth of renewables. The last two decades have seen the rise of solar power. Wind power continues to grow for the last three decades. Today, this world has over 650 GW of wind power installed. Solar is not too far behind. As of today, we have nearly 600 GW of solar power plants under PV technology installed across the world! That is quite some capacity in just about 20 to 30 years! Where do we go from here? One of the major areas of development is expected to be transmission and distribution in days to come. We lo

Evolution of Rama

Image
Rama was a very valiant warrior! He was a person who was adored,  honoured  and slowly morphed over a period of time into God. No doubt he is someone to be adopted and admired. Possibly, emulated wherever possible. But then, Rama has always been a symbol of racism! Symbol of Racism? Not by birth but over a period of time, Rama was subjected to racist views and thoughts. Many of our Gods have been subjected to the same treatment from us, over the last few centuries. Rama is no different. Rama was born a dark man. Black! So black that he vied with the darkest of the rain bearing clouds that ever roamed the atmosphere. Many a literature in the past would vouch for this statement of mine! In those days, black was considered beautiful. Therefore, Rama was dark! Not just Rama, Krishna was also dark and beautiful, attractive and manly! And every one of these Gods evolved over a period of time with the varying thoughts of the people. Rama was beautiful. How

Ramayana, the real interpretation!

Image
Ramayana is a fight between the Good and the Evil! Everyone would agree to that statement. No questions! Rama is the Good and Ravana is the Bad or the Evil. Many scholars and interpreters of the legend have held that this Good is not something away from you. Rama is one part of Us, the individual. The same way, Ravana is another part of Us! Human being is a mix of Good and the Evil. Rama is that representation of the Good in every person while Ravana is that representation of the Evil in every person. So, the moral of that story is Good should triumph over the Evil. Every individual should fight against the Evil in him and finally, the Good in him or her should triumph over the Evil in him / her! Symbolization does not end there! Ravana’s ten heads are supposed to be ten desires that ‘man’ the evil in humans. What are these ten desires? Desire for woman / man is the first in the series. Desire for money or wealth, desire to grab land, desire for power over peo

Photons and the black holes

Image
Of course, photons do not become heavy and does not hit you down. That is because as the theorists explain, the mass of photon at rest is supposedly zero! So when the photon is having a zero mass, the equation we saw earlier would have a zero in the numerator and therefore, there is no mass to it even while travelling. Or should we say it becomes an indeterminate, a zero / zero! Well, let us leave aside Einsteinian Photon for a moment and get back to Newton. If as the theorists say, photon has zero mass. Then according to Newton's gravitational law, the force of gravity between any two objects is proportional to their masses. Force of gravity = G x m1 x m2 / square of r where G is gravitational constant, m1 and m2 are masses of the objects and r is the distance between them. So, when light tries to escape from, let us say a black hole, the mass of the photon is zero while that of the black hole is very huge!  Theorists again say, black hole is black because

Einsteinian Photons should be infinitely heavy!

I am continuing my series on mathematical fallacies. Here is another one! You all know what I am talking here. Don't exit the page thinking this is outside the syllabus!! I have always wondered about light and the light particles, the so called photons. Photons are small, very small particles that make up light as per your Quantum physics! Now they are moving at the speed of light, obviously! Turn to Einstein's relativistic equation which says that the mass of a moving object will depend on the speed at which the particle or object is travelling. The equation goes like this: where m is the mass of the moving object, m 0 is the mass of the same object at rest, v is the velocity at which the object is moving and c is the speed of light. Well, we all know when an object moves close to the light speed the mass of the object should become infinity. Just substitute v with c when v reaches c, you get infinity as the result whatever be the initial mass of the object! H
